Over the course of the season on the NY2LA Association this year, 2025 Luke Westerdale proved to be one of the top scorers at the 16U level. With his big season, the highly skilled 6’1” guard has started to see his recruitment build.

“The season this year with Academy went great,” Westerdale said. “We had countless big wins and playing in the NY2LA with my best friends is always fun.” Paired with Stevie Elam, they formed a dominant backcourt duo for The Academy.

Right now, Westerdale is attracting interest from both division one and two programs. Last month the junior took a visit to one of these schools in Ivy League member, Columbia University. “The visit to Columbia went great. The campus being in the middle of NYC is very cool and definitely one of the top colleges in the world. The coaching staff was very kind and welcoming and it felt like a great atmosphere.”

Some of the schools recruiting him recently include Eastern Michigan, Lake Superior State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Saginaw Valley State, Wayne State, and Western Michigan. Coming up for Westerdale is visits to a few of the schools in the fall, including Saginaw Valley State on October 28th.

For his upcoming junior season at Gabriel Richard High School (MI), Westerdale has a couple of lofty goals. His main goal is to win a state championship and he would also like to hit the one-thousand-point mark.
