Plenty of talent on the 17U level of the NY2LA Association this season that runs past just the first team. All five of the players on this second team had tremendous seasons and were all in consideration for the first team as well.
Dekwon Brown – 2024 – PG – DB Pro
During the spring Brown was one of the biggest stock risers in the entire region with star performances at both the Spring Extravaganza and Grassroots Showcase in April and continued to play well from there. There were few, if any others, point guards on the association that have his combination of shot making and ability to create for others to cement his spot on this list. Behind Brown as well to a deep roster, DB Pro made plenty of noise in their first year on the NY2LA Association.
Ty Fernholz – 2024 – SG – Wisconsin Blizzard
After first team honors last season, it was another stellar season for Fernholz to make this second team and help Blizzard to be one of the top teams on the association. The high scoring guard was a large reason why the Blizzard were able to reach the championship game of the association championships. With his shot making ability there were few players on the association who consistently scored the ball at a high rate like Fernholz. He committed to Michigan Tech back in July.
Tim Franks – 2024 – G/F – Chapman Basketball Academy
Over the course of the past few years Franks has been one of the most consistent players in Wisconsin’s 2024 class and that continued throughout this spring and summer. With his great outside shooting and scoring ability, Franks was a big piece of all the success of this Chapman team that was one of the best throughout the year.
Deunte Phifer – 2024 – G/F – REACH Legends
Phifer was a breakout star this year who only continued to get better and better throughout the season. The lengthy 6’5” wing was a big reason why REACH went 4-0 at the Grassroots Showcase in April with a few impressive wings and followed that up with a big summer as well. One of the most impactful players on the association with his lockdown defense and versatile scoring ability. He received his first division one offer from Eastern Michigan this summer and should be on plenty of more division one schools list.
Anthony Przybilla – 2024 – SF – Milwaukee Trailblazers
While Przybilla was a good player with the Trailblazers last year, his game was on another level this year to make his way onto the second team. He has a great combination of size, skill set, and feel to have a big season and make his way onto this list. Behind Przybilla, the Trailblazers went undefeated at 8-0 on the association this spring and then also won the platinum consolation championship at the Summer Jam. There are few players that have his great upside and is easy to see why he has made it onto plenty of scholarship coaches’ radars and he recently picked up an offer from Indianapolis.
