One of the breakout stars on the 16U level of the NY2LA Association this season was Gavin Grondin. Over the course of the spring and summer, the 6’0” point guard proved to be one of the top 2025 guards on the association while playing with the Wisconsin Blizzard. Grondin is a junior at Kingsford High School in Michigan’s upper peninsula.

“Very energetic, fast pace, communicative, threat from the shot and drive,” are all things the junior said to describe his own game. Grondin is a high IQ point guard that excels playing on the attack. With his blend of vision, burst of quickness, and great moves, he excels getting into the paint and creating. Not only a consistent scorer, but he also has a good ability to run the point.

A couple of aspects of his game he is looking to improve include getting stronger and shooting. “All-around game can always get better,” he said about improving his play.

With his high level of play over the past several months, Grodin pulled in his first scholarship offer. Back in June, Lake Superior State offered him. This fall he is planning on taking a visit to the in-state school. With his unique blend of talents, look for his recruitment only to continue to build as he moves into his junior season.
