One of the more skilled guards on the 15U level of the NY2LA Association this past season was Stevie Elam. With his play for The Academy as well to his first team all-conference honors as a freshman last season at Adrian High School (MI), he has started to attract college interest.

This fall, Elam took a visit to one of the schools showing interest in him, Eastern Michigan University. “The visit was great, awesome experience, great atmosphere, and great coaches. I love the campus and vibe there. It was really nice. The coaching staff made it overall a great time.”

“The season was amazing,” Elam said about his season with The Academy. “Lots of wins and getting closer to everyone. We all had great chemistry. My coach and teammates put me in positions to make plays.”

Even while a freshman, Elam showcased his scoring ability with 14 points per game. He is a strong and bouncy guard that is a standout on both ends of the floor especially with his scoring ability attacking the basket. “I’d like to improve on shooting off of the dribble more and keep my jump shot consistent,” is what Elam is looking to improve upon his game.

For his upcoming sophomore season, the guard is looking for some team accomplishments. “Win a conference, win a district championship, and in general just win,” are his goals for this season. On a personal level, he wants to lead his team in points, assists, steals, and rebounds.
