New Head Coach Kenny Payne and Louisville went up into Michigan to land their newest commitment for their 2023 recruitment class. On Monday, the Cardinals received a commitment from Curtis Williams Jr., a 6’6” wing of Brother Rice High School and The Family program.

While Payne and Louisville entered the Williams sweepstakes late in the game just having offered him back in July, they were still able to land a commitment from the top 75 nationally ranked recruit. While Williams had announced a top six prior to the Cardinals offer back in May, they were quickly able to catch up ground.

The commitment comes after he took his official visit to the ACC school over the past weekend. He had previously taken a visit to Providence College the weekend before. The senior also had received offers from Alabama, Florida State, Maryland, Notre Dame, Tennessee State, VCU, Xavier, and others.

Over the past year Williams has continued to climb up the rankings into a four-star recruit. He had a solid grassroots season on the EYBL with The Family where he averaged 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He is one of the more impactful players nationally in the 2023 class with all he can do on both ends of the floor. He stands at 6’6” with a strong build and athleticism to be able to match up with multiple positions effectively. Offensively he uses his strength to score around the paint in addition being a consistent threat shooting from beyond the arc.

He marks the second commitment in the Cardinals 2023 class, joining forward Kaleb Glenn.
