Just an incredible group of talent was on hand for the Spring Extravaganza. Here is part one of the 17U top performers which includes some very talented 2021 and 2022 prospects.
Aldane Barrett - 2021 - PF/C - Mid-Pro Academy
Barrett once again proved to be one of the best, if not the best shot blockers at the tournament. A highly skilled rim protector that has some size at 6’8”, quickly gets up, plus has good timing to block nearly everything at the basket. He has a developing offensive game and was able to add some baskets posting up and diving to the hoop. Barrett made his commitment to Southwest Minnesota State this week.
Leon Bond - 2022 - G/F - JH1 Elite
The bouncy junior has continued to be a breakout star. He is a slashing wing that is very tough to stop once he gets going to the basket and is a vicious finisher at the rim with his explosiveness. He is a versatile defender that blocks shots well and was all over the glass. Bond has recently added offers from Marquette and Virginia Tech.
Ryan Conwell - 2022 - G - EG10
After a great performance at the Swish N’ Dish, Conwell followed that up with another impressive showing this weekend. A true three level scorer that can create his own shot. Conwell moves very well with the ball to get all the way to the basket in addition to creating good looks for himself in the mid-range and beyond the perimeter. He shoots it very well off the dribble in addition to being a skilled passer.
Matas Deksnys - 2021 - G - Mercury Elite
The lengthy wing had one of the more impressive scoring displays in a game over the weekend. Deksnys has a great looking jumper from the perimeter and just could not miss. Even after hitting a couple threes early and receiving plenty of attention from the defense, Deksnys continued to hit threes at a high rate. With his 6’7” height and great length he is able to get his shot off right over defenders even while being highly contested.
Jonathan Dunn - 2022 - F - Yanders Law
An explosive 6’7” wing forward that is a good slasher. He was able to get to the basket often and is a big-time finisher at the rim dunking everything. Dunn is also a skilled cutter who moves well without the ball to get in good position to score. While he did the majority of his damage at the basket, he also hit some threes. Following the tournament, Dunn received an offer from in-state Missouri.
Amarion Dickerson - 2022 - F - C2K Elite
A skilled slasher that moves extremely well attacking the basket. At 6’7”, the athletic wing forward maneuvers around defenders incredibly well to score it at a high rate going to the basket. A good versatile defender with all his abilities that can get all over ball handlers.
Josiah Harris - 2022 - F - All Ohio Red
A powerful 6’7” forward that plays with a big motor. He scores it extremely well at the basket with his strength through contact but can also stretch the floor and spot up for the three. A quality defender with his mobility and strength, and really works on the defensive end. Harris committed to West Virginia a couple weeks ago.
Alex Hurr - 2021 - G - Rocky Mountain Select
One of several unsigned seniors that stood out over the weekend with their play. The lengthy 6’4” guard is a skilled shot maker with range that shoots it well off the dribble or catch. He also moves well with the ball and added some buckets going to the basket to score at a very high level versus some tough competition.
Sean Jones - 2022 - PG - All Ohio Red
He moves extremely well with the basketball attacking the paint and showed ability to even beat good defenders off the dribble with ease. He uses his quickness to just burst by defenders plus handles the ball well. Jones scored it well on his drives around the paint in addition to making some nifty passes on the move.
John Lovelace - 2022 - G - Phenom University
A lengthy 6’8” wing guard with great versatility. He continues to impress on the defensive side of the ball with his ability to defend 1-4 very well. He scored well on his drives going hard to the basket, but continues to become more of a threat shooting from the outside hitting some threes over the weekend. Lovelace continues to get better and better and earned himself an offer from Missouri following the tournament.
