Day 2 of a camp can go one of two ways... The intensity and focus can elevate or kids can mail it in. To their credit and benefit, the players did a great job dialing in at the tasks at hand and their effort in the skills drills and the games were a step or two up from the previous day. Below is a list of just some of the players who really played well throughout the games portions of the final camp day and helped their team find some success.
5TH/6TH GRADE
DEVONTES COBBS - 2022 - F - MILWAUKEE, WI - WI UNITED
Cobbs was really tough again on Sunday for his team. Being a presence in the middle defensively and making sure the other team gets zero second chances by rebounding everything, Cobbs was a difference maker on that end of the floor and was again productive offensively both scoring and passing.
JAKE HAMILTON - 2023 - F - SPRINGFIELD, IL - SPRINGFIELD PREDATORS
The young forward put together a solid little Sunday with his play, particularly in his team's second contest. Hamilton did some nice work inside with a good feel around the basket, and was also able to sink a pair of three's. He did a pretty nice job rebounding the ball as well.
AUSTIN HERRO - 2022 - G - GREENFIELD, WI - WI PGC
Herro left the title game with a hand injury and the effect on his team was obvious. Before that Herro had his team rolling by scoring the first 8 points of the game and then making sure others got involved also by shelling out a couple assists and really getting after it defensively.
ARMANI JONES - 2022 - PG - MILWAUKEE, WI - WI UNITED
Jones was really really good for his team throughout the day, making plays off the bounce, pressuring up defensively with his quickness and instincts, and also making some nice passes. Jones also showed he can hit shots and seemed to relish in the opportunities to make the key plays for his team down the stretch to win the title.
YOSEF OLIFF - 2022 - PG - SKOKIE, IL - HOOP AVENUES ELITE
Oliff made a few really nice plays for his team through their couple contests. The young guard really flashed with an impressive no look, cross court pass on the money on the fast break for an assist. He also made a nice play going to the hoop for a score.
LJ WELLS - 2022 - F - EAU CLAIRE, WI - WI PLAYMAKERS
Wells had himself a really solid day by making plays in on both ends of the court. Wells had some nice steals which led to transition points for his team both by his hand scoring it and by him making the pass for easy buckets.
7TH GRADE
JEREMIAH DOTSON - 2021 - F - BROWN DEER, WI - WI SHOOTERS
Dotson just seemed to make the right play consistently on Sunday. It wasn't flashy, but he played under control, he made a couple nice moves to the basket, and got involved on the glass repeatedly.
JAYLIN GIBSON - 2021 - G - NORTHBROOK, IL - HOOP AVENUES ELITE
Gibson continued his solid play from the previous day by gliding through the lane and putting together series of buckets by being strong with the ball and just reading where gaps were I n the defense to get to the cup. He also knocked in a couple shots and was strong on the glass.
DARIUS HANNAH - 2021 - F - MILWAUKEE, WI - PLAYGROUND ELITE
Hannah too continued his play from Saturday with another stellar outing. Hannah caused his length to disrupt opponents defensively and was again a nuisance for them when he had the ball in his hands offensively, including scoring in traffic.
CAMERON PALESSE - 2021 - G - WAUKESHA, WI - RAS MILWAUKEE
Palesse was really active up and down the court, making plays with his hustle and effort and ability to finish when attacking the hoop. He had steals, he rebounded and besides finishing at the rim, he had a couple assists as well.
TE'JAI PRICE - 2021 - SF - MILWAUKEE, WI - DTA
Price was another guy who really stood out because of his relentless effort. He got after players with great defensive pressure, he rebounded and he made a couple plays in transition also.
TANNER RESCH - 2021 - PG - SUSSEX, WI - RAS
The young guard worked hard Sunday and did a nice job with the ball in his hands. He also made a big impact with his shot, drilling back to back triples at one point.
EZRA STARGELL - 2021 - PG - KENOSHA, WI - PLAYGROUND ELITE
Stargell did a great job controlling the floor, leading his team and making sure to get people involved. The young lead guard flashed his quickness and some burst to blow by defenders and sneak a quick shot going to the hoop. He also made a spectacular wrap pass in transition to an open cutter for a score.
MONTEZ TAYLOR - 2021 - PG - WEST ALLIS, WI - DTA
Taylor played well Sunday making some plays for his teammates as he tallied a few assists. He also sank a three nicely and was pesky defensively with his activity on the perimeter.
BLAKE WESLEY - 2021 - G - SOUTH BEND, IN - G3 RISING STARS
Wesley also had a steady day making a few big plays for his team. Wesley finished nicely by the hoop once and then opened some eyes by sinking a pair of treys with confidence.
TREYVON WILLIAMS 2021 - G - MILWAUKEE, WI - PLAYGROUND ELITE
Like his teammate, Williams picked up pretty much where he left off the day before. He cut and weaved to the hoop off the bounce and scored in a couple different ways. He jumped passing lanes for a couple steals and just impacted the game by drawing defenders and softening the middle.
8TH GRADE
NIMARI BURNETT - 2020 - PG - CHICAGO, IL - MAC IRVIN FIRE
Burnett had another strong outing Sunday as he was a force offensively yet again. He continued to display an array of offensive moves and his ability to score at different levels. He got involved in the rebounding game some too.
COLE DAKOVICH - 2020 - F - WAUKESHA, WI - WI SHOOTERS
Dakovich stepped up his game Sunday and really came alive for his team. He got strong inside when he was attacking through traffic, finished at the bucket and was engaged defensively.
LJ HENDERSON - 2020 - PG - CLINTON, IA - QUAD CITY ELITE
Henderson really took the lead spot on the floor seriously Sunday and controlled the entire flow of the game. He got people into advantageous positions, delivered and shared the ball on trimester to open teammates and attacked the basket with burst and surprising strength against contact.
DESMOND POLK - 2020 - G - MILWAUKEE, WI - WI UNITED
Polk really upped his energy level Sunday and dialed in on both ends of the floor. He used his length and athleticism well defensively and then was under control and engaged offensively where he put in some nice shots from beyond the arc.
ABE SCRUGGS IV - 2020 - G/F - MILWAUKEE, WI - WI SHOOTERS
Scruggs has some exciting athleticism to him, but he also can play the game with a balanced skill set where he can really take over on the defensive end with his quickness and effort, and then made a couple plays for his team on the other end too.
JAMARI SIBLEY - 2020 - F - MILWAUKEE, WI - WI UNITED
Sibley was simply outstanding again. His ability to get up and down the floor for a big really puts him at an advantage and usually when he caught it getting up the floor he was putting it away for two points. Sibley also was tough defensively using his length to alter or block shots.
RAYMOND TERRY - 2020 - C - GARY, IN - INDIANA SYF
Terry had a pretty solid day overall by rebounding the ball strongly and making use of his great frame to create space and score around the rim when he could. Overall it was the confidence and his effort that really stood out though and upped his level of play.
YACOUBA TRAORE - 2020 - PF - SUN PRAIRIE, WI - WI SWING
Traore really plays with a lot of energy and he was also able to play with focus and intensity. On Sunday. He sliced through the defense a couple times and was able to score at the rim and also knocked down a shot, had a nice assist and was stout rebounding.
LATRELL WHITESELL JR. - 2020 - PG - OMAHA, NE - NEBRASKA HOOPS ELITE
Trelly lived up to the name Sunday with a renewed concentration and just steady play. He made a couple shots moves for baskets, shared the ball better and drew the defense by attacking.
TREY ZASTROW - 2020 - PG - MANITOWOC, WI - WI PGC
The Manty native was again on top of his game for much of Sunday, making shots from the perimeter and also knocking down a couple pulling up off the dribble. He shared the ball well too and made the smart plays consistently.
