One of the top juniors in all of Michigan right now is Sonny Wilson of Detroit Jesuit High School and The Family. Throughout his high school career, the 6’0” point guard has been one of the most sought after 2023 guards in the entire region.

The junior currently holds a long list of offers. Just at the start of his school career Wilson picked up his first offer from Detroit Mercy. Since then, Akron, Cleveland State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Mississippi Valley State, Oakland, Toledo, and Western Michigan have all extended an offer to him.

“I like the vibes I’m getting from the coaches and the players,” Wilson said when talking about these nine schools that have offered. Adding in “I also like the environment and feel it will be a good place for academics plus feel that I would come in and contribute right away.” Right now, Wilson says a trio of these schools are recruiting him the hardest, Oakland, Toledo, and Western Michigan.

While plenty of mid-major programs have offered there are several prominent programs that have also been interested in Wilson. Loyola-Chicago, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, among others have all been recruiting him as well. During the season so far, he is averaging 20 points per game while helping his team out to a 6-3 record.

Wilson is a dynamic playmaking point guard that is electric with the ball in his hands. With the combination of his quickness and handle he has a great ability to penetrate the defense and get into the paint. He is a crafty finisher around the paint as well as being able to create in the mid-range. Wilson is a good decision maker with the ball that sees the floor to create for others too.

Look for Wilson to continue to be a highly sought after 2023 prospect during the rest of the high school season and with The Family following that this spring.
