One of the frontrunners for Mr. Basketball in Indiana is Caleb Furst a 6’8” forward from Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Christian.  This 4-star recruit is ranked the top-prospect by some in Indiana and he is a top-40 in the nation by several recruiting services.

Caleb just recently took another unofficial visit to Purdue whom he has an offer from and also offers from: Michigan State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Iowa, Stanford, Cal, Maryland, Indiana, Virginia, Ohio State and Butler.

This past summer he participated in the EYBL circuit with top grassroots program Indy Heat picking up attention from a host of high-major schools.  “It definitely is a huge honor to look and see (the rankings), but Coach (Marc) Davidson calls that stuff rat poison,” Furst said. “You can't let it get to your head. You just have to stay focused on getting better each day. It's not too hard.”

Blackhawk is considered not only one of the top smaller class teams in Indiana but overall regardless of size as reflected being ranked #5 in the Sagarin Ratings.  You won’t find this group playing “cupcakes” they have a strength of schedule at #23 recently beating Chicago Westinghouse 80-58.  The defending class A state champions had to move up a level due to Indiana’s success factor.  This rule was implemented to force school’s up in class with continued state tournament success.  They stand a real-chance of winning the 2A title this season as well as they  are currently #2 in the state at that level.
