It may have only been 20° outside, but Bryce Hopkins got hot quick inside the Lawless Gym. He pumped in 41 Pts in a remarkably dominant victory over perennial state power Simeon. Hopkins talked to us about his historic performance in Oak Park on Monday night.

JO - What was your plan coming into the game?
BH - “My overall plan coming into the game was to win. Since I have been at Fenwick we haven't beaten Simeon, so I really wanted to change that!”

JO - At what point did you feel this was going to be a special game for you?
BH - “I knew it was going to be a special game when I came out for warmups! The atmosphere was great and I just fed off the energy in the gym!”

JO - What did a win against a program like Simeon mean for your team?
BH - “A win against Simeon was big for our team because we are a young team and beating a team with a name like that just boosts our confidence even more!”

JO - How did you take advantage of the matchups the Wolverines threw at you?
BH - “I was just taking what the defense was giving me. I felt that I could beat my defender off of the dribble so I would take it in for some easy buckets. Then when they put the smaller defenders on me that is when I went into the paint and was able to get some easy buckets!”

Bryce is currently verbally committed to the University of Louisville. Hopkins also sits at #2 in the NY2LAILLINOIS.COM Top 25.
