Just over a week ago, Shilo Bowles received his first scholarship offer. The 6’7” senior forward from West Allis Central High School and the Wisconsin RAP program was offered by Northern Michigan University and head coach Matt Majkrzak. He received the offer when he took an official visit to the Marquette, Michigan campus.

Northern Michigan is a division two school located in Marquette, Michigan. They hold a 4-7 record this season and are a member of the GLIAC Conference.

“The visit was nice…facility was great,” Bowles said on how his visit up to Northern Michigan went. He also added in “they have a lot of snow up there already” when talking about the school located in Michigan’s upper peninsula right on Lake Superior.

When asked what he likes about Northern Michigan, Bowles stated “there was a lot of things I like about the school but one thing that stood out to me was their dome facility and the people there. They would just come up to you and shake your hand and some a hug, really like the welcoming.”

Some of the other schools Bowles mentioned that are recruiting him include Appalachian State, Cleveland State Community College, Eastern Florida, Mineral Area College, Minot State, Olney Central College, and Trinidad State. When asked if there is any other school that he would like to visit, Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee came to his mind. “Some place where I can excel at a high level at as a player and a person,” the forward mentioned on what he may be looking for in a college.

So far on the season, Bowles and West Allis Central are off to a 5-2 start. For this season, he has the goal to “finish what I started and go all out every game and every practice.” Bowles is currently ranked fifteenth in the NY2LA 2020 Wisconsin player rankings.
