One of the more impressive players at the loaded Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic has been Joe Green of Marian Catholic High School (IL). Green is a highly athletic and well-built 6’0” senior guard. In the first three rounds of the tournament, Green has scored 17 points (versus T.F. South), 16 points (versus St. Rita), followed up by 12 points (versus DePaul Prep).

While he currently does not have any scholarship offers, he has heard from some division one and two schools including Lewis University, Northern Michigan, and Western Michigan in addition to several others from various levels. When asked what Green is looking for in a college, he responded with “welcoming environment and a great coaching staff.”

So far in the season Green and Marian Catholic are off to a 9-3 start while Green is averaging 15 points per game. At the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic, Marian was able to advance to the semifinals before being knocked off by DePaul Prep. Against DePaul Prep on Friday, Green had a well-rounded game with 5 rebounds and 3 assist in addition to his 12 points. In the game, the guard impressed on both sides of the basketball.

Green is an athletic guard who is at his best attacking the basket. Versus DePaul Prep he showed off good quick moves off the dribble and was able to get to the free throw line often. The senior does a good job contributing on both ends of the court. With his quickness, he is a tough perimeter defender that can get all over opposing ball handlers and forced a few turnovers in the game. While there is a lot to like about his game there are still a couple things Green is looking to improve, “I’ve been working to improve creating my own shot and shooting in general.”

While sometimes overshadowed by his backcourt mate and Iowa commit Ahron Ulis, Green is not one to be missed. When asked why a school should recruit him, Green told us “because of my competitiveness, leadership, and passion towards the game.

Right now, he is currently focused on the high school season and is not planning on making his college decision until after the season is over. “I want to go down state,” Green first mentioned when talking about goals for this year which is a real possibility with a strong and talented Marian Catholic squad.
