The annual fall commitment time is here and this past week already saw a few come off the board including a big name in Terrance Clarke who not only committed to Kentucky but also reclassified into the Class of 2020.  Here’s a quick look at that and more in our news and notes for this past week…

D1 COMMITMENTS
Terrence Clarke of Brewster (NH) came off the board with a verbal commitment to Kentucky.  Not only did he commit to Kentucky but the highly regarded prospect also did what was expected for some time by reclassifying into the 2020 class from the Class of 2021.  A top 5 talent in the class of 2021, Clarke assumes the same in the 2020 class and he’s a big time pick up for Coach Calipari and the Wildcats.

Eugene Brown of Southwest DeKalb (GA) is the latest off the board as the 6-6 G/F from Georgia verbally committed to Ohio State.

Marquette struck on the recruiting trail this past week in Arizona as the Golden Eagles secured a verbal commitment from Osasere Ighodaro, a 6-9 plus 2020 PF from Desert Vista High School.  

Loyola-Chicago made a splash in Texas this past week as they secured a verbal pledge from 2020 G Baylor Hebb of Colleyville Heritage (TX).  

2020 F/C Caleb McGill of Grandview (CO) came off the board as well as the talented big man verbally committed to UC-Davis this past week.

N.C. State got in the mix as well as the Wolfpack secured a verbal pledge from 2020 PG Cam Hayes of Greensboro Day in North Carolina.

VCU double dipped last week by securing verbal commitments from 2020 SF Jamir Watkins of Trenton Catholic School (NJ) and 2020 PF Mikeal Brown-Jones of the IMG Academy (FL)

Harvard also struck on the trail as the Ivy League program received a verbal commitment from 6-9 225 plus pound Center Justice Ajogbor of the Christ School in North Carolina.

OTHER COMMITMENTS
2020 PF Cooper Olson of Champlin Park (MN) is headed to the University of Mary.

2020 G Logan Pearson of Kimberly (WI) is headed to UW-Platteville.

2020 SG Caleb Zurliene of Mater Dei (IL) is off the board to Purdue Northwest.

2020 PG Jake Buchanan of Kimberly is headed to Rockhurst.

PROSPECTS BUZZING
2021 PG Tyrese Hunter of Racine St. Catherines (WI) is starting to get a lot of looks in his direction.  The explosive lead guard had Marquette, UW-Milwaukee, Butler, Wright State, Miami (OH), and South Dakota State in to take a look this past week.

2020 C Ryan Kalkbrenner of Trinity Catholic (MO) picked up an offer from Kansas this past week.  The talented Center is one of the top available bigs left on the board and he was one of the premier shot blockers on the Nike EYBL circuit this past spring and summer.  

2021 F Chet Holmgren of Minnehaha Academy (MN) continues to be one of the biggest names on the board in the current junior class.  A consensus top 5 prospect nationally, Holmgren holds offers from Florida, Kansas, Baylor, Minnesota, Texas, Gonzaga, Purdue, Western Kentucky, Nevada, Illinois, Maryland, Iowa, Marquette, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Iowa State, West Virginia, California, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Ohio State, etc. 

2021 F Matthew Mors of Yankton (SD) is one of the better kept secrets nationally but he’s quietly taking off regionally.  Wisconsin, Nebraska, Colorado, Creighton, Iowa State, Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and TCU have offered the 6-7 plus forward.

2021 SG Kobe Bufkin of Grand Rapids Christian (MI) is starting to buzz.  He holds offers from Michigan State, TCU, Ohio, Rhode Island, VCU, and Depaul.

2021 6-5 SG Brandin Podziemski of St. Johns NW Military Academy (WI) promises to be a big story over the next 8-12 months.  A highly skilled guard with bounce and game, he’s hearing from Michigan, Iowa, Miami (OH), UW-Milwaukee, South Dakota State, William & Mary, UC-Santa Barbara, Eastern Michigan, North Dakota State, IUPUI, and Buffalo amongst others.  

UPCOMING PLATFORMS
The NY2LA Sports Futures Camp will return on October 26, 2019 and it’s open to 2021-2023 boys prospects.  For the past decade the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp has been one of the premiere fall platforms in the country both regionally and nationally.  This year’s camp will be held at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin.  For more information CLICK HERE
